GABRIELLA EVERGREEN

This is a tapestry and you are a part of it.
Your thread is wound up in mine,
Whether you see it or not
this is the truth:
Your joy is the warp
And your pain is the weft
Which are held together
In tension.

When someone hurts you,
The twinge that you feel
Is a sympathetic vibration
From the other end of a thread
Held by a stranger
Whose kindness has been unraveled
By threadbare souls
And she is frantically
Darning the hole.

But this patchwork is beautiful
It’s a pattern we all create
And if your pain
Is connected to my pain
Then we share in each other’s healing, too.
Lay down your needle.
There are many hands to do this work.
